I went out and thinned my watermelons and cantaloupes today to the three best plants per hill. One entire hill of 'loupes never sprouted at all -- don't know what the deal was there. Next week my husband is going to lay out landscaping fabric around them and put straw mulch out, so the melons will grow on a clean surface ( Read more... )

According to NOAA, there's a "slight chance" for frost Sunday morning and Monday morning; nighttime temps are supposed to be 37 and 39 F, respectively. I guess it's a good thing I'm behind on planting my vegetable garden, but I do have two hot pepper plants out, and I'm worried about the wisteria I planted.
